Power of Reading
We were excited to welcome musicians from the Norfolk Music Service to perform to our Year 1 and 2 children today. The jazz ensemble entertained the children and taught them about the different instruments. The children responded with enthusiasm and asked excellent questions.
Our Forest Schools Curriculum is such an exciting part of our broad curriculum offer. Our Reception children walk to Mousehold Heath in the sun and the rain and enjoy the outdoors. They have fun together, learn new vocabulary and learn how to respect the natural world in a woodland environment. They learn what is needed to make a fire and where to find it and then they toast marshmallows. This practical experience supports all children with their confidence and resilience and in particular our children who speak English as an additional language.
Our Reception children have made connections between different areas of learning and curriculum areas throughout their Power of Reading texts. They have immersed themselves in such hands on learning from the stimulus, ' Blue Penguin.'They have improved their general knowledge not just about penguins but also other animals who live in cold places. They've had a wonderful learning experience and they are looking forward to the next Power of Reading text.
